Gasthaus zum Ochsen in Hauptstuhl

1st visit: complained about medium steak that wasn't even English and got it back exactly the same. Complaint was ignored. 2. St. Martin's goose pre-ordered - just turned out, no excuse. In the meantime, friends have only had bad experiences.

Food service very good

Food was very good, nothing to complain about, but until we got what we wanted we had to have a little discussion. There was no poultry dish on the menu except for a salad with chicken strips, but we wanted a warm dish and asked if we could get a chicken schnitzel instead of pork schnitzel because the waitress was already annoyed and when we didn't want strawberry ice cream for dessert and even wanted one more ball of chocolate ice cream there eyes rolled up I don't know if the waitress wasn't in a good mood that day, but she was a little annoyed But kudos to the cook, the food was delicious The ambience was nice and the man from whom I had ordered a table by phone was also very nice

Very cozy atmosphere and decorated with attention to detail, the food tastes fantastic, the chef knows his trade. The service is very friendly and quick, as well as very attentive. The manager Mr. Spanier practically reads the guests' wishes from the eyes and sometimes came it seems to me as if he could read minds! A super good, friendly, courteous manager, who still works! We will definitely be back, thank you very much for the good food and the wonderful evening, which we were able to enjoy with you, it was wonderful!

Very nice beer garden. We had the Kirmesspeisekarte, but still very delicious. Service was friendly and helpful.

10 days ago we found by chance from the Netherlands to Switzerland by chance in the oxen. We are thrilled with the hospitality, the ambience, the food and the price. If we live close by, we would love to come back again and again. Thank you very much and very big compliment!

Good cuisine and good service

Believe it or not, it gets more and more difficult to find good German -- and particularly Pfälzisch cuisine around Landstuhl. Zum Ochsen is the real deal. Reasonable prices, nice size entrées with salads and side orders, friendly staff and pleasant atmosphere. Highly recommend it.

Food is great! Biergarten is really lovely! Live music nights you will need a reservation.

Lovely beer garden setting. The food was OK, The service was not good at all. Spoiled a good night out. Took over an hr to come (45 min between the salad that went with the meal and the main part of the meal arriving) and then they got the order wrong. Not good.

Great and cozy restaurant. When we were there there wasn't too much choice, because at that point there was still the Christmas card. I really liked this, so you didn't have too much to think about and there was something for everyone. Even got a tarte flambee that was not on the menu. The boss is very hard working and very friendly. The food had great taste and there was a large bowl of fries for the table. You didn't have to ask for ketchup all the time, there was a whole bottle for the table. Only note: the portions could have been a bit larger, as the prices were a bit more expensive;) But all in all, definitely recommended.

The restaurant has a nice beer garden. It had a Thai evening at the weekend with live music in the beer garden. The food was very good. Especially the delicious spring rolls.

Love eating here, great staff. As mentioned before, they don't have a huge menu, but the food is very good. And when the Beer Garden is open in the warm months we love sitting out side.

Incredibly friendly helpful staff and delicious food! Their menu isn't huge but it is high quality! They have a beautiful out door beer garden in the Summers. They take card. we will definitely be back !

Friendly staff, good food, nice atmosphere. Both the inside and outside biergarten are excellent places to go. We took our kids and felt immediately welcome by the staff, whose English was excellent (our Deutch is not so good). We will definitely go again!
